Meet Stephanie Seaton!

Nurse Recruiter for the VA Medical Center

Stephanie Seaton got into Nurse Recruiting because she loved being a nurse.

Part of her job is to visit college career days, visit schools, and advertise open positions in newspapers and on the internet.  Stephanie also talks to nurses who are thinking about working at the VA hospital and answers their questions, and looks over their applications when they decide to apply for a job.

Stephanie says, "I didn't pick nursing- I felt like it picked me!"

Stephanie has always wanted to help people, and as a Nurse Recruiter she gets to share the experience.

Stephanie says her work impacts the community by changing misconceptions about the VA Medical Center.  Lots of people think it's old, worn out, and doesn't give good service, but Stephanie wants everyone to know that's not true.  Stephanie says the VA hospital is very modern and gives great care to patients, and the hospital staff is working to make things even better all the time.

The best part of nurse recruiting for Stephanie is meeting with students and sharing their excitement.  She likes developing relationships with them and watching them make their transition to working at the VA Medical Center. The hardest parts of her job are overcoming misconceptions about the VA hospital and planning to recruit future nurses in a few years when many of the older nurses will be retiring.
