Meet Jim Morrison!

Administrator of Medical Services for the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center

Jim Morrison would tell you, his job is to take care of all kinds of behind the scenes things at the hospital so the doctors can concentrate on being doctors.

Jim's responsible for making decisions about what medical supplies to get and where to get them, he works on special projects at the hospital, approves schedules so people can take vacation time, and makes plans for future projects.

Jim's work affects the community because lots of veterans get medical care at the VA hospital, and Jim's work helps make sure they get the best care possible.

Jim's favorite part of his job is the sense of accomplishment he gets from resolving problems- he says he's in the problem-solving business.  Jim likes that he can see tangible results from his work.

The most challenging part of Jim's work is working with doctors- they are thinking about helping patients, and they want to concentrate on that, not spend time on other things.

Jim recommends this career to anyone- he says, "It's a fine career."  Healthcare administration is an interesting field, and the doctors really need the help they get from people like Jim. 

His advice to anyone who is considering this career is to get a good education, and possibly a degree in public health.
